Path and street lighting

Path and street lighting
Light-emitting diodes, better known as LEDs, can be used for much more than lighting kitchens and offices. More and more cities and towns are using LED as street and street lighting, and that's why the reason behind this blog is to shed light on the many benefits of LED lighting in road and street lighting.
Whether highways, highways or smaller street systems, lighting plays a very important role, which is why more and more communities implement LED as part of the city lighting. The city had an urgent desire to become the world's first capital, with a net zero carbon footprint by 2025. As a result, the city council decided to replace 19,000 of the town's 45,000 streetlights with LED in 2017. At the time of writing, 300 km of roads and streets in the city have this new LED lighting and the municipality plans to replace another 9,000 street lights with LEDs.

Reduced maintenance
LED is the diodes' low need for maintenance. Primarily, LED luminaires are one of the most rugged solutions on the market. LED's are therefore dust, rain, and moisture. Apart from that, LED lighting has a lifetime of approximately 50,000 hours depending on the model, which is in stark contrast with traditional street lamps and pylons with a lower average lifetime. Altogether this means that LED lighting, broadly, is maintenance-free.

Reduced maintenance
One of the main reasons for the replacement of conventional street lighting with LEDs are the low maintenance requirement of the diodes. First and foremost, LED lights are one of the most robust solutions on the market. LEDs are therefore designed for outdoor use with harsh weather and switching temperatures and therefore the diodes can handle dust, rain, and moisture. In addition, depending on the model, LED lighting has an expected life of approximately 50,000 hours, which is in contrast to traditional street lights and pylons with lower average life. Overall, this means that LED lighting is largely maintenance-free.

Great savings
Replacing light sources can be both time-consuming and expensive, which is why municipalities are well advised to replace existing street and street lighting with LEDs. In addition, LED is a much more energy-efficient solution because the LEDs have a lower power consumption and a higher light output. This means that LED lights emit more light, although they consume fewer watts.

Sustainable
Given that LED consumes less power to emit corresponding or greater amounts of light, municipalities are reducing their carbon footprint by using LED for off-road and street lighting. As a result, LED lighting can help improve the city's or the community's environmental image.

Increased security
In addition to economic and environmental benefits, safety is an important factor when replacing conventional street lighting with LEDs. Every year, thousands of Danes are exposed to traffic accidents. While some of these accidents are due to excessive speed or excessive blood alcohol levels, others occur due to poor visibility on the road. The city of Copenhagen has decided to replace the city's dark orange light with a clearer and brighter LED solution. This has made it easier for the driver to recognize pedestrians, cyclists and other passing motorists, which has increased overall road safety in the city.

Crest solution
At Crest, we are developing replacements for traditional way and street lighting. We supply LED lights for lighting roads, where the existing light source is replaced by an LED lamp.
